Discovery & Relationships

Profiles

Group Profiles collect and share key information about each group. Individuals and other groups can find what they are looking for in one place, and it's easy to review multiple group profiles at once. The information collected by a Profile is used to power other tools, such as The Map.

How it helps:

  • Consistently organized information about each group.
  • All in one place.

The Map

The Map shows where each group is headquartered and where each project operates. The search and filter controls allow you to easily find what you are looking for, such as a specific country or type of group. And each set of results is book markable and sharable- just copy the link and send it to the rest of your team.

How it helps:

  • Discover new groups to work with.
  • Easily find the groups you are looking for and share the results.

Contact Management

List your contact information and follow other groups to see all of their contacts in one place. When contacts change, you will be notified and the new info will be automatically updated in your Contact Manager. Our privacy controls allow you to fine-tune who can see your contact information: the public, other groups on Distribute Aid, or only groups you follow.

How it helps:

  • See all of your contacts in one place.
  • Get notified of changes & keep contacts up-to-date automatically.
  • Privacy controls limit who has access to your contact information.

Collaboration History

Your Collaboration History tracks your relationships with the groups you work with. You can add current, past, and future collaborations. Collaborations managed through other tools on the Distribute Aid platform will be automatically added for you. Having a historical record makes it easy for new team members to get caught up and know which other groups to reach out to. You can even set reminders to check in on infrequent collaborations, such as a once-a-year aid shipment.

How it helps:

  • Track current, past, and future collaborations.
  • Set reminders to check in on infrequent collaborators.
  • Give new team members the full context to get them caught up.

Physical Aid Supply Chain

Inventory & Needs Tracker

Our Inventory & Needs Tracker provides a space for each group to list what they have available to send in an aid shipment, or what donations they need to sustain their operations. Collection groups can make informed decisions on where to send aid they have received, and distribution groups can highlight critically low supplies or specialty items. Finally, our own algorithms can help identify good matches based on the overlap of inventory / needs or the distance between two groups.

How it helps:

  • See what everyone has / needs in one place.
  • Make informed decisions.
  • Identify other groups to work with, to combined shipments or deliver to multiple destinations.

Shipment Coordination

We all know there's lot that goes on between two groups agreeing to send a shipment and that shipment actually being unloaded into the receiving warehouse. Our Shipment Coordination tool helps track all of the details that go into preparing and sending an aid shipment, and can even send out automated reminders when key dates draw near. It's also a place where the groups involved can make collective decisions, such as what should be included or who pays how much to cover the costs. Advanced features offer support for multiple collection groups to send a joint shipment, or for a route that includes multiple delivery points.

How it helps:

  • Track all shipment tasks in one place.
  • Automated reminders for key dates.
  • Make collective decisions.
  • Advanced support for joint shipments and multiple destinations.

Capabilities

Capabilities refers to assets or skills which allow groups to perform certain tasks, such as a truck the group owns or medical knowledge. Each group can list out it's own capabilities to track their capabilities internally, and to discover what other groups are able to do. It makes coordinating much easier, especially when it comes to managing the physical aid supply chain.

Knowledge Sharing

Information For Refugees

We plan to collaborate with Refugee Info Bus and similar groups to provide country specific information for refugees about where they can find food, shelter, and other support. This will include legal information on relevant local laws and how to make an asylum claim in the country they are in.

Group Q&A, Mentorship

Through the Q&A section groups can ask questions in a forum with other people who are experienced in the field. It will also be possible for groups to offer to share their knowledge and expertise with others. For example, groups wishing to expand their scope by starting a new program could get help from a group that is already running a successful program of the kind. This can take the form of offering to answer in-depth questions over email, share strategic plans, or getting on a phone call every week.

How it helps:

Tutorials

We will collaborate with groups that are running exceptional projects to develop in-depth tutorials so new groups will have what they need to get up and running. We will also highlight tips, tricks, and best practices for groups to improve their existing operations.

Volunteers

Volunteer Matching

We have met with a number of groups that already focus on matching volunteers with groups they can join, including Volunteering 4 Refugees (formerly GreeceVol) and indiGO Volunteers. We plan to collaborate with these groups and use integrations to support their existing efforts.

Onboarding

Groups can create an online layout of the warehouses and camps that they work in. They will be able to identify specific activity areas and upload engaging media to show how to carry out the tasks involved. New volunteers can review this content before their visit to get up to speed, or while they are doing tasks in an area to answer specific questions they have. Groups have also expressed an interest in using this tool for outreach and fundraising purposes.
